By downloading, installing, or using FUTA Social ("the App", "the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and the developer of FUTA Social ("we", "us", "our"). Contact: support@futa-social.com
FUTA Social is exclusively for current and alumni students of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA). By creating an account you confirm that:
We reserve the right to verify your student status and suspend accounts that cannot be verified.
You must provide accurate information when registering. Your account credentials are personal and must not be shared with anyone else.
You are responsible for keeping your password secure. If you suspect unauthorised access to your account, notify us immediately at support@futa-social.com.
Some features require identity verification using your student ID and a selfie. You consent to us storing and reviewing this documentation for verification purposes. Providing false documentation is a violation of these Terms and may result in permanent suspension.
You may set a custom display username. Usernames that impersonate other people, institutions, or use offensive language may be removed without notice.
You retain ownership of the content you post (photos, videos, text, files). By posting content on FUTA Social, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, distribute, and store that content solely for the purpose of operating the App.
All content you post — including posts, comments, group messages, direct messages, resource uploads, and accommodation listings — must NOT:
Files uploaded to the Resource Library must be materials you have the right to share. Uploading copyrighted materials without authorisation may result in content removal and account suspension.
Accommodation listings must accurately describe the property. Fraudulent listings, false pricing, or misleading photos are strictly prohibited and may result in permanent suspension and referral to relevant authorities.
If you encounter content that violates these Terms, you can report it directly within the App using the report button available on posts, comments, profiles, messages, listings, and resource uploads. Reports are anonymous — the person you report will not be notified.

You will receive an in-app notification when a report you submitted has been reviewed.
If your content is removed or your account is suspended and you believe this was a mistake, you may appeal by contacting us at support@futa-social.com within 14 days of the action. Include your username and a description of the content or action in question. We will review appeals and respond within 5 business days.
We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms at our discretion. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or legality of user-generated content. We are not obligated to monitor all content proactively but will act on reported content in accordance with Section 4.6.

All payments on FUTA Social are processed by Paystack. By making any payment in the App, you also agree to Paystack's Terms of Service. We do not store your card details. All fees are displayed clearly before you confirm any transaction. Prices are in Nigerian Naira (₦).
FUTA Social provides an escrow payment service for accommodation transactions. Funds are held in escrow until the tenant confirms satisfactory move-in, or until a dispute is resolved. Refunds are subject to the outcome of the dispute process.
Accommodation agents may pay to boost their listings for increased visibility. Boost fees are non-refundable once a boost campaign is live. The duration and reach of a boost are as described at the time of purchase.
Users may purchase cosmetic profile badges. Badge purchases are final and non-refundable. Badges are tied to your account and cannot be transferred.
Businesses or individuals may pay to place sponsored ads within the FUTA Social feed. By submitting an ad, you confirm that your ad content complies with our content standards in Section 4 and all applicable Nigerian advertising regulations. We reserve the right to reject or remove any ad at our discretion without refund if it violates these standards.
Arena tournaments, including eFootball competitions, are free to enter. We do not charge entry or registration fees, and no money is wagered or staked. Winners receive in-app rewards only — such as points and a champion badge — and there are no cash prizes. Any optional gifts from sponsors are provided at the sponsor's discretion and are not a payment to or from FUTA Social.
Agents using the Accommodation Marketplace agree to:
Fraudulent listings may result in permanent suspension and referral to relevant authorities.
Disputes between tenants and agents must be raised through the in-app dispute system within the timeframe specified at the time of transaction. We will attempt to mediate disputes fairly but our decisions are final within the App.
Ghost Mode is an anonymous posting feature available at designated times. While your identity is hidden from other users during Ghost Mode:
Polls created by administrators or users are for community engagement only. Results are not binding, do not represent the views of FUTA or FUTA Social, and should not be relied upon for any official purpose.
FUTA Social is free to use and is supported by advertising provided by Google AdMob and AppLovin MAX. By using the App, you consent to the display of ads. On iOS devices, we request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission before serving personalised ads — you may decline without affecting your ability to use the App.
All software, design, logos, and original content created by FUTA Social (excluding user-generated content) are the intellectual property of the developer. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the App without written permission.
"FUTA Social" and associated branding are not affiliated with or endorsed by the Federal University of Technology Akure.
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please read it carefully.
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by Nigerian law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including: uninterrupted or error-free access to the app; the accuracy or completeness of user-generated content; the safety or suitability of any accommodation listing; the outcome of any dispute mediation.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app; loss of data, revenue, or opportunity; damages arising from accommodation transactions between users; or actions or content of other users. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
You may delete your account at any time through the App settings. Deletion is subject to our data retention policy described in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or permanently terminate your account without notice if you violate any provision of these Terms, engage in conduct harmful to other users or the community, provide false registration information, or engage in fraud on the Accommodation Marketplace.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Nigeria.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes through the App. Continued use of FUTA Social after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
